#BangonPilipino: JCI Manila CARES Relief Efforts After Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses

A big part of JCI Senate Manila’s commitment to making a positive impact on Philippine communities is directly providing aid when and where it’s needed most. In late 2020, on top of the pandemic that had already left countless of our countrymen struggling to survive financially, two massive typhoons added to the devastation.

Under the banner of JCI Senate Manila CARES, and the Oplan Damayan project, our Senators quickly organized and gathered resources to bring aid to some struggling communities after each typhoon. Within days of Typhoon Rolly, JCI Senate Manila was able to ship 630 care packages to badly-hit towns in Catanduanes.

The country was still reeling from Typhoon Rolly when the even deadlier Ulysses hit. JCI Senate Manila wasted no time in organizing a Quick Reaction Soup Kitchen in Barangay 889, Sta. Ana Manila, bringing hot meals to struggling communities that had been ravaged by heavy flooding. JCI Senate Manila also put together hundreds of relief packages and turned them over to the Marikina Sports Complex Command Center.

In all of these efforts members of the JCI Manila Senate personally took part in obtaining the supplies, packing the relief goods, and organizing the distribution, all while adhering to pandemic safety protocols.
