Kaway-Kawayan Bamboo Legacy Project: Growing Hope for the Next Generation

On August 20, 2023, JCI Senate Manila launched its ambitious Kaway-Kawayan Bamboo Legacy Project at Christ the King Mission Seminary Church in Quezon City—a powerful initiative aimed at planting 75,000 bamboo trees as part of the global Billion Bamboo by 2030 movement. The day began with a Thanksgiving Mass led by Fr. Ben Beltran, SVD, during which children offered bamboo seedlings to symbolize their generation’s commitment to a greener future. The event also featured the formal MOU signing between JCI Senate Manila and the Office for the Integrity of Creation, SVD Central Province, solidifying a meaningful partnership for ecological restoration. Families and JCI members took part in a hands-on bamboo replanting activity, transferring propagules into seedling bags—a fun and symbolic effort to nurture life from the ground up. As one of the organization’s flagship environmental projects for 2023, Kaway-Kawayan reflected JCI Senate Manila’s strong dedication to environmental advocacy, sustainable development, and creating impact for future generations.
